Happy Birthday!

June is the month for Birthdays in our house and first up is my Dad's.
For some reason this year, for the very first year ever, I sort of forgot about it until 2 days before.  And when I have basketball practise on Wednesday night and Play on Thursday it didn't leave a lot of time to make dad a card.
So on Friday morning I got up at 7am and before work I made this card:

I was really stoked it only took me 20 mins - can you believe that 20 MINS!
Ok so as a friend asked did i take photos of the inside - how ridiculous as if I would have time to do the inside lol and I figured i would just fill the inside up with the writing - telling my Dad how much I love him.
I know all Dad's are special - but mine is tops!
So happy 71st Birthday dad - love you sooooooooo much!

Where did the weekend go?

Monday already - gosh I honestly don't feel like I have had 3 days off!

I did however get two cards finished that I started on Tuesday and went shopping for a present for the new baby.
What are the manufactures thinking now days - or is it a sign that I am getting old?  But all the baby stuff is SO NOT cute.  Well not for the little boys it either had feet in the jump suit (which i don't like as one size does not fit all and the suit can get to tight for the baby before they actually out grow it in the body) or it make's them look to grown up.  I must be old fashioned but they are just little baby's for such a short time.
So after about three quarters of an hour later i settled on the one in the photo.  It was cute - but not really what i was looking for.  Bring back Peter Rabbit outfits!
Anyway here are the cards - I have done them like this before.  One charm has feet the other a pram.

I also have to have a whinge- Jamie needed to go to the doctor this weekend as he got kneed in the head on purpose playing Geraldine this weekend.  Even with ACC the fee is $45.00 for the weekend doctor. Now the doctor cut his ear open to let the blood out and advised us to come back today if it was still sore - which it was and very swollen.  Nigel read on the Internet that the procedure that he had also required antibiotics but none were given.
So back he went today and saw another doctor who said it didn't need to be cut open again but he should have been on antibiotics - and charged another $45.00!  $90.00 for something that a kid did on purpose and for what the doctor should have given him in the first place - ANNOYED!
Jamie is gutted as it may leave scar tissue (commonly known as cauliflower ears) who says boys don't care what they look like.
Right enough of my whinging!

Also to you all in Christchurch, yet again my thoughts are with you after the aftershock this morning, just when people are starting to relax a little!  It sure as heck gave my cat a fright this morning and made me get out of bed quick (I know what was i doing still in bed at 9.00am!) So my thoughts are with you all.

Have a safe week everyone, and thanks for stopping bye!

Happy Queens Birthday Weekend

I hope everyone is having a safe and happy long weekend.

Apart from watching Jamie's rugby on Saturday at Geraldine (they won 45 - 10) and doing housework - we haven't done much else.
I sat down to play yesterday trying to make myself a template for a step card.  I couldn't find the right dimensions for what I wanted so after wrecking only 3 pieces of card I came up with what i wanted.

I have used a digi image called Silver Fairy from Wee Stamps - these are seriously cute!
And very cheap converted in NZ dollars this was only $3.70.
Here is a look at what i have done;

Now just in case you are interested in digital stamping - here is what I have learnt through trial and error so far - please feel free to add your comments and suggestions to share if you have further information.
Because I use Distress inks to colour in I use a Epsom printer as it has dura bright ink and is water resistant ink - they have these on special at The warehouse stationary at the moment for $39.00 - all Epsom printers i believe have dura bright ink so the $39.00 ones are all you need!  (and this is full of ink - who replaces ink these days?).
It is best if you print on your card and I use water colour paper and then leave it for a couple of days to thoroughly dry - but I have also coloured straight away but it really is better to leave it.
I have tried "Hot pressed water colour paper" but prefer the normal watercolour paper (which is cold pressed) as the shading is better on this paper.
You can of course use word and flip your image or make it as small or as big as you like - one size does not fit all lol!
I hope that has helped a little?
Right off to play again I think!
Thanks for stopping bye and I hope you are all having a great weekend.
